This document describes how to configure Web authentication, which is one of the new features in ReOS v10. If you enable Web authentication on your UTT gateway, those non-PPPoE dial-up users cannot access the Internet through the UTT gateway until they have successfully authenticated.
Configuring Web Authentication
Login to the Web UI of the UTT gateway, and then follow these steps.
Create Web Authentication User Accounts
To create one or more Web authentication user accounts, do the following:
Go to the Restriction > Web Authentication page, and then select the Web User Account Settings tab to go to setup page, see the following figure.
Specify User Name, Password, and Description (optional) for the user account.
Click the Save button to save the settings. You can view the user account in theUser Account List, see the following figure.
Repeat the above steps to create another new user account.
Enable Web Authentication
After you have configured Web authentication user accounts, please select theEnable Web Authentication check box to enable the feature, and then click the Savebutton.
Using Web Authentication
After Web authentication is enabled, if a non-PPPoE dial-up user tries to access any web page before authentication, he/she will automatically be redirected to the web authentication login page (see the following figure), asking for authentication.
After a successful login, a pop-up window will be shown to the user, see the following figure.
Note: This window keeps the user session open, so it should be kept open until the user disconnects from the UTT gateway.
Viewing Authentication Status
In the Restriction > Web Authentication > User Account List page, the network administrator can view the IP addresses and user names of all the users that are authenticated to the UTT gateway.
Conclusion
Web authentication can be used to prevent unauthorized users from accessing the Internet, greatly enhancing network security.
