How to Setup Bandwidth Limitation on UTT Business Router

Introduction
The client wants to limit a specified user(s)' bandwidth. This document describes how to setup bandwidth limitation on a UTT business router.

Prerequisites
1. a UTT Business Router (hereinafter shorted as “the Router"), such as UTT router N518W, AC750W, AC750GW, AC1220GW, ER518, ER840G and ER4240G. Firmware Version: 3.0.0 or above
2. a PC/laptop connected to the Router, either through its LAN port or wireless network

Configuration
1. Login the Web GUI of the UTT router (make sure your computer’s IP address is in the same subnet of the router. UTT router’s default IP address: 192.168.1.1)

2. Goto Qos > Traffic Management, and then click Add button to create a rule.

I. Setup bandwidth limitation for all users
a. Choose All Users, and set each users' bandwidth, here we take 2M as Max. down bandwidth and 512K as Max. up bandwidth, click Save to active the rule. You can configure time schedule at Effective Time. (In order to guarantee the function of traffic management runs properly, you must configure the WAN Bandwidth correctly at first.)

II. Setup bandwidth limitation for specified users
a. Choose User Group, and set each users' bandwidth, here we take 2M as Max. down bandwidth and 512K as Max. up bandwidth, click Save to active the rule. You can configure time schedule at Effective Time. (In order to guarantee the function of traffic management runs properly, you must configure the WAN Bandwidth correctly at first.)

b. There are two ways to setup limit group.
Users involved in IP address ranges
Setup the IP addresses that you want to limit the bandwidth, and then click save to active the rule. Here we take 2 IP address ranges. Please make sure that the IP addresses in the group are in the same subnet mask of LAN. (If there is a simple IP address then fill with the same IP at both blank.)

Users bound to the User Group
Choose the group that you want to limit the bandwidth, and then click save to active the rule. You can create user group at User Management > User Group.

Tips:
1. In this case, Each – Every user can get 2M Max. down bandwidth, Share – All users in the group can get 2M Max. down bandwidth.
2 The IP addresses set in the user group should be in the same subnet of the router's LAN.
3. If your internal PCs/laptops obtain the IP addresses manually, it's suggested to set IP MAC binding to avoid ARP spoofing and to ensure the bandwidth limitation that is working properly. Refer to knowledge how to setup IP/MAC binding for more details.
