How to Use HiPER 510W as a Wireless Repeater to Extend WLANRange
The HiPER 510W 3G wireless VPN router supports multiple operation modes: AP mode, AP Client mode, and three WDS modes including Repeater mode, Bridge mode and Lazy mode. Repeater mode allows the HiPER 510W to act as a wireless repeater to extend the range of wireless network.
User Requirements
As shown the following figure, a user uses one HiPER 510W (denoted as 510W-1) to connect to the Internet. Now he has purchased another HiPER 510W (denoted as 510W-2) in order to extend the range of wireless network. To achieve this, we need to configure 510W-1 to operate in Lazy Mode, and configure 510W-2 to act as a repeater for 510W-1.
Configuration Steps
1.Configuring 510W-1
2.Login to the Web UI of 510W-1.
3.Go to the Network > LAN page to set LAN IP address to 192.168.51.1.
Go to the Wireless > Basic page to select Lazy Mode from the Operation Mode drop-down list, and configure other basic wireless settings, see the following figure. In addtion, please take note of the Wireless MAC Address of 510W, which will be entered on 510W-2.
1.Configuring 510W-2
2.Login to the Web UI of 510W-2.
3.Go to the Network > LAN page to set LAN IP address to 192.168.51.2.
- Go to the Wireless > Basic page to select Repeater Mode from the Operation Mode drop-down list, enter the wireless MAC address of 510W in the first AP MAC Address text box, and configure other basic wireless settings as required, see the following figure.
Note
1.The 510W-1 and 510W-2 must be on the same subnet, that is, their LAN IP addresses must be on the same subnet.
2.The SSID, Channel, Wireless Mode and other security parameters must be identical on 510W-1 and 510W-2.
3.Please enter 510W-1’s wireless MAC address in the first AP MAC Address text box on 510W-2.
