How to Allow Remote Desktop Connections through a UTT Router

Introduction
A company' s network uses a UTT Router to connect to the Internet. Now it wants to open remote desktop service (Protocol: TCP; Port: 3389) on a local computer (IP Address: 10.10.10.6), so that external users can connect to the computer and manage it over the Internet.
 
Prerequisites
1. a UTT Business Router (hereinafter shorted as “the Router"), such as UTT router N518W, AC750W, AC750GW, AC1220GW, ER518, ER840G and ER4240G. Firmware Version: 3.0.0 or above
2. a PC/laptop connected to the Router, either through its LAN port or wireless network
 
Configuration
Establishing a Port Forwarding Rule on UTT Router
1. Launch an Internet browser from the PC/laptop and login the router, check WAN IP at Network > WAN.
 
2. Go to Network > NAT > Port Forwarding, click Add.
 
3. Go to the setup page and refer to the following steps.
a. Specify the name of port forwarding rule,
b. Enter the local computer’s IP address in the Internal IP Address text box, 10.10.10.6 in this example.
c. Enter 3389 in the Start Internal Port text box (as Remote Desktop Protocol uses TCP port 3389 by default.) and a free port number in the External Port text box. It is suggested you use a port number greater than 1024, 9000 in this example.
d. For a multi-WAN router, select the WAN interface to which this port forwarding rule is bound. The port forwarding rule will use the selected WAN interface’s IP address as its external IP address.
e. Click the Save button to save the settings.
 
Enable Remote Desktop Connection on Windows 10
1. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System, click the Remote settings option on the left side of the System window.
 
2. On the Remote Desktop section, choose the second option, titled “Allow remote connections to this computer” respectively. The decision for more or less security is up to you.
 
Establishing Remote Desktop Connection from Windows 10 through Internet
Open Remote Desktop Connection dialog box, type the external IP address and external port number (which are separated by a colon) of the port forwarding rule you just created,200.200.200.57:9000 in this example. Click the Connect button to connect the specified computer.
